Developing exciting new technology.
Our SLB End-to-end Emissions Solutions (SEES) provides exciting new technology to help detect and reduce methane emissions for our customers. In particular, we offer two new methane sensor types alongside our digital methane platform, broad industry partnerships, and consultancy offering.
The newest addition is our methane point instrument, a continuous measurement device that can detect leaks as small as 0.4 kilograms per hour, pinpointing the leak to within six meters. The next piece of technology is the methane lidar camera which creates a picture that clearly identifies the emission source of methane plumes. These technologies enable targeted actions to reduce leaks.

Reducing CO2e.
Large quantities of cement are used by our customers during the construction of a well and are a large source of CO2. The EcoShield™ geopolymer cement-free system, helps to reduce that CO2 footprint. This innovative technology eliminates the use of Portland cement for cementing operations, which reduces embodied CO2 by up to 85%.
In its first year EcoShield systems helped our customers avoid more than 800 metric tons of embodied CO2e emissions—and when fully deployed it will have the potential to avoid up to 5 million metric tons of CO2e emissions annually.

The Ora™ intelligent wireline formation testing platform provides deep transient testing capabilities which eliminates flaring, reducing carbon emissions by up to 96% in offshore environments. Its deployment on wireline increases operational agility and reduces footprint compared with conventional drill stem testing.

Technology lifecycle management.
Our 5”R” framework – Reduce, Reuse, Refurbish, Remanufacture, Recycle – serves as a starting point to monitor and track improvements in our collective efforts, making circularity not only paramount for sustainability but also for our business impact.
Our Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM) Circularity Network oversees the acquisition, maintenance, and enrichment of technology and equipment used in operations, focusing on optimizing reliability, sustainability, and performance to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
The TLM Circularity Network has advanced circularity at scale by leveraging digital intelligent solutions such as introducing cutting-edge visual analytics in the component re-use inspection process and in the refurbishment of key components. In 2023, we achieved 330,000 tCO2e of reduced emissions through the repair of over 2,800 drilling collars and other components.
